Scott Nordin

Scott Nordin grew up in Grand Forks, North Dakota where he played soccer through high school. His coaching experience has spanned the majority of two decades. Scott began his coaching career in the mid 1990’s with the GGFSC for five years. He spent four seasons coaching middle school soccer with the Grand Forks Public Schools, followed by one season as the head coach for the girls varsity high school team in Crookston, MN. His career culminated at his alma mater Grand Forks Central High School coaching three seasons as the head boys varsity coach and nine seasons as the girls varsity head coach. Scott was named North Dakota coach of the year, as selected by his peers, in 2004.

After taking time off from coaching, Scott returned in the summer of 2018 coaching the GGFSC U9 girls team. In 2019, he coached the U-0 girls Summer and U11 girls Fall teams for the GGFSC. He holds a United States Soccer Federation National D license.

Scott is honored and thrilled with the opportunity to be the Technical Director for the Greater Grand Forks Soccer Club. He looks forward to advancing the game of soccer in the Greater Grand Forks area.

Scott currently works at Choice Health and Fitness and lives in Grand Forks with his wife Heidi and three children Brielle, Aspen, and Easton.

Jake Jensen

Head Coach
Summer Competitive Program 2020: U12 Girls Head Coach; U9 Boys Head Coach

Jake Jensen was born and raised in Grand Forks, North Dakota and has been a part of the Greater Grand Forks Soccer Club since he was 8. He played from U8 all the way through U18 and once he was done as a player he stepped right into coaching with the club. Jake has previously also served as Director of Coaching for GGFSC.


Jake currently holds a United States Soccer Federation National C coaching license, as well as a National Diploma from the United Soccer Coaches organization. Additionally, Jake holds his level 1 and 2 goalkeeper certification and is certified to coach High School Soccer through the United Soccer Coaches organization.

Killashandra Link

Head Coach
Summer Competitive Program 2020: U13 Girls Head Coach


Killashandra Link was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska and began her love of soccer at the age of five. Throughout her soccer career she experienced many different styles of coaching, game strategies, team diversity and development and various levels of competitive play. This experience started with her Omaha Soccer Club team, Gladiator 90/91 Blue, playing in the State Championship, participating in several tournaments as well as college showcases. During this same time, she also played on the Olympic Development Program state team for Nebraska, making it to the Regional Pool and winning the Regional Championship. She also traveled overseas playing in Holland with the Dutch Touch Soccer Academy experiencing a very different style of play and culture around the game of soccer. She continued playing at the high school level on the Varsity Team at Marian High School in Omaha, Nebraska while at the same time being the assistant coach for a U13 Girls team in the Omaha Soccer Club. In 2009 she moved to Moorhead, Minnesota attending Concordia College playing on the Concordia College Women’s Soccer team where during her time there the team were MIAC Champions twice, had three National Appearances in the Sweet 16 as well as receiving the MIP (Most Improved Player) Award in her Freshman year.

After college, she moved to Dubuque, Iowa to work on her Master’s Degree. While there she spent the next three years coaching for the Dubuque Soccer Club as both head coach and assistant. In 2016, she moved out to Littleton, Colorado to complete her clinical residency and continued her coaching passion as an assistant coach for the Mile High Academy Girls Varsity Soccer Team. In the spring of 2017 she coached a U10 girls team with the Littleton Soccer Club. 

Killashandra has continued to expand her knowledge and love of the game by earning her United States Soccer Federation National E and D Licenses. Her next goal is to earn her C license through the experience she will gain coaching for the Greater Grand Forks Soccer Club in her second season.

Carolyn Smith

Head Coach

Summer Competitive Program 2020: U8/U9 Girls Head Coach & U14 Girls Head Coach

 

Carolyn Smith is from Grand Forks, ND. She played soccer for multiple clubs growing up, including GGFSC but also the Fargo Soccer Club and Tri-City. Most recently, she has played for Dakota Fusion, a WPSL team based in Fargo.

Carolyn is an alumni of Grand Forks Central, starting on varsity for four years, a captain and an All-Conference selection for two years. She is now at Bemidji State University, playing soccer and continuing her education and is set to graduate this upcoming spring.This will be her second year coaching and she is excited to get to work again and grow her coaching experience!

Kirsten Bokinskie

Head Coach

Summer Competitive Program 2020: U15/U16 Girls

 

Kirsten Bokinskie is from Fargo, ND. She played in the competitive and premier programs at Red River
Soccer Club and Tri-City Storm Soccer Club for 10 years. Kirsten attended Oak Grove Lutheran School
and played 5 years for Shanley High School, earning many individual awards and a state championship in
2012. She continued her education and soccer career at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN.

In her 4 seasons for the Cobbers, Kirsten earned MIAC Academic All-Conference honors and was a captain in her final season. She stayed on as a varsity assistant coach with the program at Shanley for 4 seasons while at Concordia, ending with winning the 2019 state championship. Kirsten also has experience coaching
with TC Storm’s academy program and camps at Shanley.

This will be Kirsten's first year with GGFSC. She just completed her first year of medical school at the University of North Dakota and is excited to have an opportunity to coach this summer.

Warren Sai

Head Coach

Summer Competitive Program 2020: U11 Boys Head Coach

 

Warren Sai is originally from France. I moved from Chicago to Grand Forks five years ago to study Business/Marketing at the University of North Dakota.  Warren loves soccer and played for the UND Men's Soccer Club from 2015 through 2017. 

Warren has previously coached the U10 Boys and the U15 boys at GGFSC.  He also coached for Shroeder Middle School's soccer team in 2018. He is excited to coach this year and hopes to teach the kids a few things to become a better athlete by the end of the season.

Damian Macias

Head Coach
Summer Competitive Program 2020: U11 Girls Head Coach


Damian Macias was born in Tallahassee, Florida, but considers San Antonio, Texas as his hometown. During his early playing days, Damian played for the Albuquerque Strikers club and was part of the Nebraska ODP Program.

Damian has coached at multiple levels including high school, club, and college. In addition, Macias has 8 years of international coaching experience, including stints at Yokota High School and Okinawa Diplomats Soccer Club in Japan. He coached at Kaiserslautern Military Community Select Soccer Academy and SV Mackenback in Germany. Most recently, he is serving as a volunteer assistant coach with the University of North Dakota. Macias' club background includes coaching and Director of Coaching at Alliance Soccer Club and San Antonio Strikers Soccer Club in Texas, and coaching and Director of Premier Boys at St. Louis Scott-Gallagher Club in Illinois.

Macias currently holds a United States Soccer Federation National B and a National Goalkeeping License as well as a NSCAA Premier Diploma.

Brendyn Lafferty

Brendyn Lafferty has been involved with soccer his entire life. He started playing Sunflake Soccer in Kindergarten and stuck with soccer up until the end of high school. In college, Brendyn has continued to play club soccer. Prior to starting his coaching career with GGFSC, Brendyn coached Sunflake Soccer for two years.  This is Brendyn's second year as a head coach for GGFSC.

Lisa Vojacek

Summer Competitive Program 2020: U10 Girls Head Coach


Lisa Vojacek grew up in Cedar Rapids, IA where she was actively involved in club and competitive soccer. Soccer brought her to the University of North Dakota in 2002 where she played for four years as a center defender. At UND, she met her husband, John and together they decided to make Grand Forks their home. John and Lisa have two boys (Jake and Josh) who keep them on their toes! Lisa spends her days mentoring new teachers, coaching middle school and high school soccer in town, and trying new things.

Marcus Tanabe

Summer Competitive Program 2020: U12 Boys Head Coach


Marcus Tanabe started playing soccer in Grand Forks as a youth. He played five years of varsity soccer, three of those years at Red River, before his family moved to the Twin Cities. Marcus continued playing soccer throughout high school for Hill-Murray. While in the Twin Cities, Marcus played U19 for two years with the Bloomington Football Club as well. He was recruited to play at St. John’s University before sustaining a season-ending injury.

Marcus has four boys and has enjoyed coaching them for the past few years in Sunflake Soccer. Coaching, especially coaching soccer, is an opportunity to fulfill one of Marcus’s life goals.

Tucker Meillier

Summer Competitive Program 2020: U15/16 Boys Head Coach; Club Goalkeeper Coach


Tucker Meillier has played soccer since he started walking and began playing competitive soccer in sixth grade. In high school, he played C1 and Premier soccer as well as three yars on the varsity team. For the vast majority of this time, Tucker played as goalkeeper. Tucker started coaching in 2012 when he coached a U14 C3 team. He is focused on creating a passion for the sport in his players. He holds a U.S. Soccer 11v11 coaching license.

This is Tucker's second year with GGFSC.  This past winter, he coached the club's Goalkeeper Academy Program.  This season, Tucker is the head coach for on of the U15/16 Boys teams and will also assist other teams as a goalkeeper coach.

Jason Heydt

Summer Competitive Program 2020: U15/16 Boys Head Coach


Jason Heydt grew up playing soccer and played for Red River High School, a North Dakota Select team, Grand Forks traveling teams, as well as the UND Men's club team. Jason has coached both volleyball and soccer at various levels throughout the years. Two years ago, he coached the U14 Boys in his first year as coach for GGFSC and continued coaching the U15 Boys in 2019.  This year, Jason will coach one of our combined U15/U16 Boys teams.

Jason is also currently the Head Coach for the Red River Girls Soccer Program.

Jen Hodny

Summer Competitive Program 2020: U10 Girls Head Coach


Jen Hodny played high school soccer at Red River High School where she has also been an assistant coach.  She played club soccer for both GGFSC and in Michigan.  Jen played for the University of North Dakota Women's Soccer team from 1999-2003.  Jen has also coached for the UND Women's team, including serving as interim head coach in the spring of 2005.  She was also a volunteer assistant coach at the University of Montana's women's soccer program.

Jen started coaching for GGFSC in 2000, coaching several of our competitive teams between 2000 and 2005.  She returned to coaching for GGFSC in the fall of 2019, coaching the U10 Girls team and will be coaching the U10 Girls this summer with her former teammate at UND, Lisa Vojacek.  Jen strives to promote an environment where players can develop their skills and tactics while still having fun.  Jen holds a United States Soccer Federation National C coaching license.

Mitchell Heigaard McGurran

Mitch Heigaard was born and raised in Grand Forks. He started playing soccer at the age of eight and joined GGFSC playing from U11 all the way through U18 for the club. Mitch attended and played four years at Red River High School. After graduating from Red River, Mitch joined the Red River Boys Soccer coaching staff and has been coaching for four years. This is Mitch's third year coaching for GGFSC.

Maddie Kleven

Summer Competitive Program 2020: U11 Girls Assistant Coach

 

Maddie Kleven is 19 years old and a graduate of Red River high school in Grand Forks. She is currently a second year undergraduate student at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. Her experience with soccer started at the age of three and she has continued to grow in the sport since. Growing up, she spent her elementary years playing Sunflake soccer and her middle school years playing at Schroeder Middle School. During her time at Red River High School, she spent two years on the Junior Varsity team and two years on the Varsity team and served as captain her senior year. She also played summer soccer for GGFSC for eight years, starting at the age of nine all the way up until her final year as a U18.

This is Maddie’s third summer as a GGFSC coach and tenth year with the program overall. Maddie is looking forward to the upcoming season where she will be the Assistant Coach for the U11 Girls team. She can't wait to continue building her coaching skills as well as her players' love for the sport!

Chris Hunter

Summer Competitive Program 2020: U12 Girls Assistant Coach; U8/U9 Girls Assistant Coach


Chris Hunter is from Silverdale, Washington. Growing up as a military child, he has played competitive soccer in many parts of the world, including Japan and England. He played varsity soccer for his high school team in Washington for three years, making it to the state quarterfinals his senior year. In addition to playing high school soccer as well as for various select teams, he played for the Division 1 premier team, Kitsap Alliance FC, placing fourth in the state of Washington. Chris is now a student at UND, majoring in commercial aviation. Currently 21 years old, he hopes to graduate in two years. This is his first time coaching and he aims to inspire a love of the game as his previous coaches have done for him.

Chad Parkinson

Summer Competitive Program 2020: U14 Girls Assistant Coach


Chad Parkinson grew up in Fargo, ND and began playing soccer in 2nd grade. He continued playing
through High School (3 years at Fargo South, before moving to Grand Forks and playing 1 year at
Red River H.S.) He also played on a travelling team during the first year of GGFSC's existence in
1988. During his college years at UND, Chad continued playing soccer for the men’s soccer club
team. Chad has coached youth soccer for over 12 years in Grand Forks, mostly for his two
daughters’ teams from 1st grade through 6th grade. In 2017, he coached the GGFSC U12 Girls
team in a fall tournament in Prior Lake, MN. In 2019, he was the assistant coach for the U13 Girls
team.
Chad is looking forward to being the assistant coach for this year’s U14 Girls team, which includes
his daughter Eden.

Tommy Ellis

Tommy Ellis played on the varsity high school team in East Grand Forks since his Freshman year.  He played soccer for GGFSC for two years and loves coaching and learning. This is Tommy's second year with GGFSC.  This summer, Tommy will be the assistant coach for the  the U12 Boys team.

Mason grew up in Grand Forks and has played soccer since he was eight years old. He played varsity all four years of high school and was a captain his senior year. This is Mason's second year coaching with GGFSC.

John Webster

John Webster started coaching for GGFSC in the summer of 2019 as the assistant coach for the U14 Boys team.  This will be John's second summer coaching for the club and he will be working with Tucker Meillier for one of our combined U15/16 Boys teams.

 

Jace Johnson

Jace Johnson was born and raised in Grand Forks, ND.  He loves soccer and started playing at 6 years old. Jace played varsity soccer all four years of high school at Grand Forks Central.

This is Jace's first year coaching at GGFSC.

 

Yosh Inui

Yosh started playing soccer when he was 10 years old and still plays soccer for fun.  Yosh has previously coached for other clubs, but this will be his first year coaching for GGFSC.  He will be assisting for the U11 Boys team.                         

Taylor Hartze

Taylor Hartze started playing soccer when she was four years old. When she was nine she started playing soccer for GGFSC. Taylor has played high school soccer for Red River High School for the past three years.
